Why we exist
When a small HVAC, plumbing, or roofing contractor searches "best estimating software," they get one of three results:
- Software vendors' own marketing pages (always biased)
- Generic SaaS sites like G2 or Capterra (too broad, not trade-focused)
- Outdated blog posts from 2-3 years ago
Trade contractors deserve better. They have specific workflows, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints that generic comparison sites don't understand. We built ContractorRanks to fix this.
How we work
Every review on ContractorRanks follows this process:
- Public data gathering — We pull pricing, features, and policies from vendor websites and public sources.
- User review aggregation — We synthesize ratings from G2, Capterra, Reddit, and trade forums.
- Trade-specific evaluation — We weigh features against the actual needs of contractors in each trade.
- Monthly updates — Pricing, features, and rankings refresh every month.
Our independence
We earn commissions when readers sign up for software through our links. This never influences our rankings. We rank by what serves contractors best, not by what pays us most. Many of our top picks aren't even in affiliate programs we earn from.
