Affiliate Disclosure

ContractorRanks is funded by affiliate commissions. Here's exactly how this works.

How we earn

When you click a link to a software vendor on our site and later make a purchase, the vendor may pay us a commission. This is similar to how Consumer Reports, Wirecutter, and most independent review sites operate.

You pay nothing extra. The commission comes from the vendor's marketing budget, not your wallet.

What this means for rankings

It means absolutely nothing. Specifically:

  • We rank software by quality, not by commission rate.
  • We cover software that doesn't pay us when they're industry leaders.
  • We criticize software we earn from when it deserves criticism.
  • If a vendor pulled their affiliate program tomorrow, our rankings wouldn't change.

Affiliate program status

We're in various stages with vendor affiliate programs. Some links on our site go directly to the vendor (no commission earned), others go through affiliate networks (commission earned). We mark affiliate links with rel="sponsored" as required by Google's guidelines.

Amazon Associates

ContractorRanks is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When we link to tools, books, or equipment on Amazon, we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Display advertising

Some pages on ContractorRanks display third-party ads served by Google AdSense and other ad partners. These ads are clearly distinguishable from our editorial content. Ad partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings. Advertising revenue never influences our software rankings or editorial verdicts — ads are placed programmatically and our editorial team has no say in which advertiser appears.

FTC compliance

Per FTC guidelines on endorsement and testimonials, this disclosure is provided to inform readers about our financial relationships with vendors we cover. You can read the full FTC guidelines on their official site.
